I did not expect to get emotional about a software output. Then I showed my grandmother.
The original is a cracked black-and-white print from 1953, water-stained across one corner, my great-grandfather's face half lost to a fold. I uploaded a phone photo of it and asked Quodara to repair the damage and colourise it, with one hard rule: do not change anyone's face.
It rebuilt the torn corner, cleared the creases, and brought back skin tones, the green of the doorframe, and the faded red of a dress nobody in my family could remember the colour of. And the faces are still the faces. It did not smooth my great-grandmother into a stranger, which is exactly what every one-click restoration app I have tried does.
My grandmother recognised the dress immediately.
